“Leaders for the future need to have values and vision and to be authentic and agile,

aligned and on purpose”

John Whitmore, Coaching for Performance

Visualise the orchestra above as your business.  As the leader, do you still have the energy and passion conveyed in this image?

As the leader, are you sure about what you want to achieve, and that everyone else is also working towards the same goal?

A conductor has to be sure and confident to lead the orchestra to the desired outcome.  They need to know that every section is full of the people with the right skills and instruments, and a shared vision about what they want to achieve.

As the conductor/director, they need to provide clear directions, and bring people together at precisely the right moment to keep the flow.  They also know when to step back and allow others to step up into the limelight to express their talents, but always knowing when to bring everyone else back in again.

Whenever the reach their goal, they listen to the response of their audience, and the conductor always shares the praise received by acknowledging the contribution of every member.

So, does this sound like you and your business?  How sure are you as a leader?  Is everyone clear about the vision?  Are your teams working effectively, both within the team and across other teams?  Does everyone feel heard, valued and respected in all parts of your organisation?  Even your customers?

The chances are that it's not quite as smooth as you'd like it to be (and let's face it - the orchestra doesn't get there without working together and making a few mistakes along the way!)

Do you have the time and space to focus on your goals - for yourself and for the business?  Would you like some help with this?

"A very enjoyable experience.  Already feel more motivated and keen to implement changes"

“Nicki supported us to set business targets, and didn’t let us shy away from the true goals, particularly as individuals.  The vision we finally set felt honest and authentic”

The Fuse Creative Marketing, Harrogate

I’ve been ‘unlocked’ after our last sessions – feeling great! Communication is MUCH better with my team, I’ve taken on an additional, highly visible leadership role, and I generally just feel far more effective. And fabulously confident!

CEO, Leeds

“I have previously had mixed reactions of coaching, but I have found working with Nicki an incredibly fulfilling and positive experience. As a CEO I feel it's really important to obtain professional and challenging coaching and there are different types of coaching or mentoring available. I find Nicki is very calm and has an incredible way of passing that skill on. She has helped enable me to focus on transformation in ways that I wasn’t expecting, in relation to improving my reflections, life/work balance and leadership. I would honestly recommend her to any professional.”

CEO, Leeds based charity

"I made my first appointment with some trepidation. Not really knowing what to expect I found my first coaching session both settling and challenging at the same time as Nicki was very good at both listening and asking considered questions which helped me to explore new paradigms to ongoing challenges both in and outside of work. Through my coaching sessions I have clarified my values, my goals and what I’m committed to both at home and work. I’ve also learnt to appreciate the value of recognising and managing my emotions and energy rather than my time and over thinking things. If you are reading this and wondering whether to take the plunge and contact Nicki my advice would be to go for it. My only regret is I did not do it earlier. Nicki is a professional and charismatic coach with a considered approach to helping people like you and I tell our stories, explore your options, generate new possibilities and shape these into a bespoke plan for ourselves. Nicki is very adept at building rapport and creating with you a coaching environment that works for you. In terms of the future I plan to return to Nicki at least once a year to take stock, review, celebrate and refresh my coaching plan.

leadership coaching & development

Do you have the time and space to focus on your goals - for yourself and for the business?  Would you like some help with this?

Whether a sole entrepreneur or leader of a large organisation, we're all working in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world.  Coaching helps leaders to cope with, and flourish in this environment.  Becoming the best possible version of YOU will mean that you will become much more agile at coping with changes such as:

  • Business growth - expansion, mergers and acquisitions

  • Creating and maintaining a positive culture during times of change

  • Dealing with internal conflicts and workplace bullying

  • Restructuring and creating new teams

  • Managers stepping up into more senior roles

  • Significant life events outside of work

Most people are familiar with the term performance coaching, where the required outcomes are guided by the needs of the organisation, with the aim of supporting the client to excel in their role.

Transformational, or Developmental Coaching takes the process a step further, and is a highly individual process, exploring current and past influences from both personal and professional lives that shape your behaviour.  I offer one to one coaching  to support businesses with leadership development and supporting staff dealing with workplace bullying using this approach.

Transformational coaching within business has the greatest impact when working with leaders:

  • Chief Executives/Directors

  • Owner-managers of businesses

  • Stepping up into a senior role

  • New to management

It enables you to define your own views of performance both for yourself, and for your organisation or team.  It enables you to develop your perspective, gain greater clarity of thought, improve emotional responsiveness, and become more adaptable and versatile in dealing with more complex situations.  You will develop your authenticity and creativity as a leader.

The benefits of business and leadership coaching include:

  • Raised self-awareness

  • Improved emotional responsiveness

  • Develop authenticity and creativity as a leader

  • Improved motivation and confidence in your own abilities

  • Improve your ability to inspire, lead and influence

  • More effective communication and better relationships – starting with yourself

  • Develop more trust in yourself and others

  • Make decisions that work for you, and the business

  • Greater clarity of thought

  • Become more agile at dealing with increasingly complex situations

  • Increase your courage to step out of your comfort zone and lead change

  • Increasingly adept at responding to differing behaviours

  • Increased creativity and innovation

  • Improvements in productivity and team effectiveness

  • Improved life/work balance

Business benefits include:

  • Increased productivity – improvements in work performance, business management, time management and team effectiveness

  • Positive people – improved self confidence, relationships, communication skills, and life/work balance

Transformational coaching is also used as an early intervention approach when bullying is identified in the workplace.  We assist businesses in taking a different approach to facilitating a positive outcome following  a complaint raised regarding allegations of bullying. In addition our approach may be applied to situations where bullying or poor interpersonal relationships are believed to be adversely impacting performance, team and interpersonal dynamics.

The role of the Transformational Coach is to create an environment and space that allows learning to take place, while developing a supportive but challenging relationship with you, the client.  Although we will agree an agenda and outcomes at the outset, it is a fluid process to allow for the path to follow a different direction where appropriate, with regular reviews to manage this process.

Every business is different, therefore you may want to create a bespoke coaching programme to suit you, and your team, which may include one to one coaching and leadership programmes.  Any of these options can also include equine facilitated coaching.

benefits of business coaching

Businesses need to constantly evolve and develop in today’s dynamic working environments, and the need to invest in yourself and your staff is more important than ever to keep up with the changes.

As a professional Transformational Coach, I can help you explore the outcomes that you are looking for in your business, through individual coaching sessions, leadership and team development.  I also offer a series of programmes to tackle bullying in the workplace, from Prevention, through to coaching Intervention and helping people to move on after a bullying experience.

Transformational, or developmental coaching encourages you to identify and challenge limiting thoughts, beliefs and behaviours that are preventing you from achieving your goals and aspirations.  It helps you to recognise your strengths and wants; set achievable goals to reach your desired outcomes, and unlock the potential in your employees and your business.

In a survey commissioned by The International Coach Federation (ICF), businesses identified the following benefits:

  • Increased productivity – improvements in work performance, business management, time management and team effectiveness

  • Positive people – improved self confidence, relationships, communication skills, and life/work balance

  • 99% of clients were satisfied, and 86% reported a positive return on their investment
